So, as it turns out, you aren’t supposed to put your baby in a car seat like I did above. September is dedicated to baby safety and no one knows baby safety better than Britax. I had the honor of being invited to attend a child passenger safety event run by the Jacksonville Moms Blog and Britax.
Britax really knows how to throw a party, they had delicious cupcakes complete with social media hastags.
One of the main reasons why this is so important to Britax is becuase an astounding 3 out of 4 children’s car seats are not being used correctly. 75%! That’s a lot of kids riding around in cars not being kept as safe as they could be. Britax has compiled a list of the top 10 most common misuses of car seats:
- Use a forward facing seat too soon.
- Harness straps are too lose.
- Incorrect harness strap height.
- Incorrectly positioned chest clip.
- Car seat too lose.
- Exceeding the LATCH weight limits.
- Not using the top tether.
- Installing rear-facing at the wrong angle.
- Using a pre-owned seat with an unknown history.
- Using an expired seat.
One of their car seat specialists was on hand to give us all a demonstration and safety talk about proper car seat installation. Here is a link to the video of her presentation: https://www.facebook.com/JacksonvilleMomsBlog/videos/920595014750603/
She was demonstrating a convertible car seat from Britax that utilized their ClickTight technology and their brand new Anti-rebound Bar (ARB). You can see in the photo below, the ARB is the black bar that is resting against the back of the seat by the child’s feet. This bar prevents the car seat from rebounding up toward the back of the car in a crash, making car seats even safer.
The ARB is available as an aftermarket product and can attach to any ClickTight convertible car seat. It’s so simple, yet so ingenious. You wonder why someone didn’t think of it sooner. Their ClickTight system is also such a great way to quickly and easily get your child’s car seat properly installed.
Since it is Baby Safety Month, Britax is offering up to 25% off select products all month long! If you have been waiting for a sign to buy a new car seat, consider this your sign. Britax has been in the business for more than 70 years and regularly ranks as the #1 car seat brand. If there is anyone you can trust your child’s safety with, it’s them.

Awesome post! Don’t you think it is horrible that 75% of car seats aren’t installed correctly? It’s a wise idea to get it checked after purchasing to make sure you have it in right. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Julie, yes it’s crazy that so many are not installed correctly!
I was thinking of buying a car seat for my little one. Thanks for your tips! I will keep it in mind before buying it. I found another interesting blog just like yours about kid’s safety. You can also read it from this link 🙂 https://www.tinystep.in/blog/7-reasons-why-baby-proofing-is-important
