Blackbeard was one Nasty Pirate

I sort of thought I knew a little bit about Blackbeard the Pirate but honestly I really only knew that he had a dark colored beard and sailed the Caribbean.  I’m significantly more up to speed now thanks to the fine folks over at Blue Planet Tales. They have an excellent iPad app that is both entertaining and educational.

They contacted me to see if I was interested in checking out one of their tales. I decided to go with Blackbeard the Pirate since my boys are into pirates these days. My boys age 4 & 5 were into the story and it kept their attention well. I am 100% confident I was way more into the story than they were though. I enjoyed it so much I actually got the Davy Crockett one as well.

There are some schools that are using these stories and I can see why. They are nicely done and bring history to life in a fun and entertaining way. It’s sort of like how the History Chanel is fun to watch but your history teacher was super boring (not you Mr. Jones, you were awesome!) These stories really make learning history enjoyable.

So if you have school aged children and an iPad I would recommend checking their app out. They currently have a free story about the first ever dog who went into space and as a bonus to my readers they have given me 20 free codes to get Blackbeard for free. So the first 20 people who send me 3 easy payments of $19.99 can have a code. Just kidding, the first 20 people to send me a message through my Facebook page or a direct message through Twitter can have a code.

Yes, this post was sponsored by Blue Planet Tales, but I stand behind everything I have said.

  1. I’ll have to check out this app and I’ll be sure to tell my son about it for my grandson. I know he’ll love it!
Sort of on topic… My mother-in-law and my husband have mentioned that they are somehow related to Blackbeard the Pirate. I thought that was really cool as I’m not related to anyone famous. lol Well a few sort of famous people but none with historical stuff. Unless former mayor Frank Rizzo counts?!

    Much love,
    Lysa xx

    1. Frank Rizzo!! Heck yeah that counts!!! (Ok, I don’t know who he is)
Related to Black Beard, that’s one of those “should I tell anyone” relationships. My family is related to Benedict Arnold, not our proudest ancestor 🙂

      1. You crack me up Mike! He was the mayor of Philadelphia. lol Not that you would have known that you probably know the name more from the jerky boys.

I agree with the Blackbeard being a relative & if you should admit it out not but then again it’s kind of neat same as Benedict Arnold. 😉 I wonder if that Snowden guy’s ancesters will admit they are related or not?
