I know some of you aren’t going to like to hear what I have to say, but sometimes you just have to speak up and say what others won’t. Sometimes you have to speak up in a world of chaos and be the voice of sound reason. I’m going to type it plain and simple: you need to cover your baby.
I’m not just talking about when you are breastfeeding your baby, I don’t care about that. And I’m not just talking to moms who breastfeed, although they seem to be some of the worst offenders. I’m talking to all moms everywhere, and even some dads. Cover your baby. No one wants to see your cute, smiling happy little bundle of joy when they are out in public trying to be productive with their day.
It happens more often than I can count; I’ll be minding my own business trying to get some shopping done and all of a sudden a mom with her baby uncovered in the shopping cart will stroll down my aisle. I’m a bit of a baby magnet so naturally the baby will start smiling at me and look all cute. What am I supposed to do with that? How can I get any shopping done with all those distractions going on? Am I supposed to just go about minding my own business and not bother someone else? What a crazy idea that would be.
Of course I can’t just mind my own business, no human has the mind control to ignore a cute baby. I can’t help myself, I start to smile, I have to fight the peek-a-boo urges. I have to fight the urge to talk 4 octaves higher. How inconsiderate. It happens everywhere. Just the other day at the zoo I saw a mom pulling 2 of her kids in a wagon and they were completely out in the open having a great time.
There I was trying to be grouchy and this mom, who undoubtedly breastfed these kids, was just pulling them all over. They were laughing and having a great time spreading joy and happiness. How inconsiderate of my desire to be in a bad mood. Some people really go out of their way to annoy you. She was no more than 30 feet away from me. Can you believe it?
I told her too. I yelled. “How rude, you should cover your kids.” She replied with something about how she already covered them with spf but I think she was confused because I could still see them.
It amazes me how people can be so selfish and expect me to mind my own business and keep to myself about their kids. It’s like I don’t even have any say in how other people raise their own kids. I don’t know what the world is coming to anymore.
I think we should all follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest parents the world has ever know and cover our babies.
Well I hope moms everywhere can head this advice. Have a great weekend everyone. Time sure is flying, it’s already April. Can you believe it? Seems like only yesterday it was March. Follow me on Facebook for more top-notch parenting tips!
Preach on brother! Last thing we need to see while trying to be a grumpy old man is a cute little baby giggling and smiling. They just don’t get it!!!! 😉 Happy April!!
No kidding. It’s hard enough to become a grumpy old man as it is. Nearly impossible with all these cute babies around. So rude!
Ha ha, I see what you did there. Happy 1st of April to you too! Thanks for the good laugh
Thanks RC, glad you enjoyed it. I hope you and the little miss are doing well. I saw that video of her on her bike, she’s getting so big!
some people just have no respect when it comes to things like that. What if I see your baby and decide I want another one? We all need to be more mindful of those around us
You make an excellent point that I hadn’t even thought about! Very true, I’m pretty sure I don’t need any more babies in my house. ha
That was awesome!
Thanks Krystal 🙂
That was simply hilarious, and at the same time on point. Seriously, some mom just want to show off their cute kid at a time when a lot of people ain’t interested in looking. I make sure my wife cover up our baby whenever we go on a outing together. She’s learnt a whole lot and I believe she won’t do otherwise when I am not looking or with her.
Thanks for pointing this out once more!
I am glad someone mustered up the courage and raised this important issue risking been labeled at politically incorrect 😛
Thanks Marissa, someone needed to say this! haha
