I’m not sure how anyone else feels about it, but this parenting thing is exhausting. Particularly at the young age that my kids are at, I need to help them with so many things. We have so many appointments and events it’s hard to keep track of them all. On top of just trying to keep my kids alive I’m also trying to teach them how to be respectful, caring human beings. I’m by no means perfect and some days it seems like I fail more than I succeed. After 3 years of being a stay at home dad I can share with you some of the ways I try to make my life easier, maintain my sanity and become a better parent. My second son loves train tracks. Specifically, riding over them in the car. You cannot believe how excited he gets to go over a train track. Every single time we go over a railroad crossing he acts like it’s the greatest moment of his life. The bumpier the crossing is the more he gets excited. My parents live a few counties over and we must cross over 5 crossings to get to their house. He times out the drive by how far away we are from the next railroad crossing. The 2nd annual Dad’s Day Out at the Zoo happened on New Year’s Eve this past year. What is Dad’s Day Out at the Zoo you ask? Well that’s when my good friend Casey and I take our kids to the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens together. As a Stay-at-Home Dad of 4 little kids, I can use all the help I can get to make my life easier. One thing I lean on heavily to help me keep it together is my iPhone.
